Last October 4th, Yujo marked their 14th year in serving the community with exceptional service and authentic Japanese cuisine in Kampala. Together with Banange Breweries, their event brought together over 200 people from various communities across Uganda, all eager to enjoy a unique blend of culture, food, and music, all at the heart of Nakasero!

Yujo is commonly known as one of the best Japanese restaurants in Uganda, and its Izakaya-style dining experience has become a favorite for food lovers and party people across the Region. The anniversary event took place in the Nekosero compound in Nakasero, a vibrant neighborhood in Kampala known for its lively atmosphere and diverse culinary scene.

The guests who arrived in the afternoon were greeted by the warm ambiance of Yujo’s traditional wooden interiors and soft lighting. The menu featured signature dishes like sushi, ramen, and yakitori, all prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic techniques. Banange breweries also provided a selection of craft beers that perfectly complemented the food, adding to the festive spirit.

We kicked off with a lineup of talented female DJs who kept the energy high throughout the evening. Their sets blended Japanese-inspired beats with Afrobeat and house music, creating a soundscape that celebrated both local and international cultures. The music encouraged guests to mingle, dance, and enjoy the night in a relaxed yet lively space.

The event was more than just a party; it was a celebration of community. People from different backgrounds connected over shared experiences, delicious food, and great music. The atmosphere reflected Yujo’s commitment to bringing people together through culture and cuisine.

Celebrating 14 years in the competitive Kampala food scene is no small feat. Yujo has built a concrete reputation for quality and authenticity, making it a go-to spot for Japanese food enthusiasts. The anniversary event highlighted how the restaurant has grown into a cultural hub, blending Japanese traditions with Ugandan hospitality.
